SAIL is the largest Indian steel manufacturing company by the government of India. SAIL steel is one of the seven Maharatnas of the country’s central public sector enterprises. SAIL TMT Bars are highly used in the construction of industries for buildings, houses, industrials, powerplants, roadways and other construction projects. Sail TMT bars are available in different lengths, grades and sizes to meet varying needs.

Sail Authority Of India (SAIL) is a group of India undertaking under the ministry of steel. SAIL produces both long and flat products. Flat products including Plates, Sheets, etc. Long Products including WRC, TMT, Structurals including rails for railways. 16.3 million tonnes of Steel during 2018-2019 is produced by SAIL India. SAIL is holding the steel plant companies like Bhilai Steel Plant, Bokaro Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel Plant, Rourkela Steel Plant, Salem Steel Plant, Visvesvaraya Iron & Steel Plant.

Specifications Of Sail TMT Bars

Mechanical Properties of SAIL TMT Bars

The value of the Proof Stress range i.e 500 N/mm2 is the same for both grades of SAIL Fe 500 & SAIL Fe 500 D.
Minimum value of Tensile Strength i.e 545 N/mm2 is equal for SAIL Fe 500 & SAIL Fe 500D.
For SAIL Fe 500 & SAIL Fe 500D Grades, the Elongation value is 12%.

Chemical Properties Of SAIL TMT Bars

Chemical Composition Of SAILSteel TMT Bars: Carbon, Sulphur, Phosphorous, S+P elements are added in SAIL TMT bars and is ranging maximum value from 0.030% to 0.105%.

Features Of SAIL TMT Bars (SAIL TMT Fe 500D & CRS Fe 500D Rebars)

Fire Resistance

Sail steel TMT bars are able to withstand fire hazards when enclosed in concrete up to 600 C at high temperatures. These types of bars will lose ?% of mechanical properties as well, the ordinary TMT bars will losses 2/3% at 500C of its mechanical properties.

Corrosion Resistance

To give an enhanced resistance to earthquakes and corrosive atmospheric conditions, SAIL TMT Fe 500D & CRS Fe 500D Bars are available in corrosion-resistant variety with modified chemical compositions.

Bendability

SAIL TMT Fe 500D & CRS Fe 500D rebars have lower bend diameter as per IS 1786-2008, Grade D specifications and can enable easier bending with less effort that facilitates easier workability.

Bond Strength

Construction techniques and practices adopted in this country, the types of equipment used and the skill level of construction workers which also influence the product characteristics (such as bend and bond strength). These factors will enhance the good bond strength of SAIL TMT bars.

Advantages of SAIL TMT Bars

SAIL steel TMT bars used for construction in earthquake-prone zones
It enhances cold and hot cracking resistance.
Able to withstand high temperatures.
Excellent resistance to corrosion and abrasion.
To eliminate manual binding, Pre-welded meshes can be used.
Enhances plastic energy absorption capacity.
Very High Tensile Strength.

Applications Of Sail TMT Bars

SAIL TMT Bars are used for Reinforced Concrete Construction (RCC) in High Rise Buildings, Flyovers, Bridges, Dams, Underground Metro railway platforms, Industrial Structures, Thermal and hydel power plants concrete structures Etc.

Grades Of SAIL TMT Bars

SAIL Steel TMT Rock/Roof Bolt Grade - It performs better toughness, excellent bond properties and high strength with gruel material due to its modified rib patterns.
SAIL Steel TMT HCR (High Corrosion Resistant) Grade - It performs high corrosion resistance properties.
SAIL Steel TMT EQR(Earthquake Resistant) Grade - It performs high and uniform elongation and narrow range of yield strength factor.
SAIL Steel TMT HCR EQR Grade - It performs combined properties of SAIL TMT EQR and SAIL TMT HCR.
SAIL Steel TMT D Grade - It performs high weldability, bendability with high fatigue resistance on dynamic loading in construction.
